We’re very fortunate to have an Exercise Specialist as part of our multidisciplinary team. Now, other programs at the Stollery Children’s Hospital are benefiting from this expertise, too.
Lisa Tremblay (our PCWH ES) has worked in partnership with our friends in Pediatric Oncology to lead a new physical activity/play program for younger children receiving chemotherapy at the Stollery. In addition, discussions are underway with colleagues in Pediatric Cardiology to plan how she can help children and youth to maintain their physical activity following a heart transplant.
Unhealthy weight gain is fairly common in boys and girls following both cancer therapy and organ transplantation, so Lisa’s experience (physical activity, weight management, behavior change) is a wonderful complement to the other health services available to families in these two Stollery programs.
