We hear and see the term ‘evidence based medicine’ (EBM) frequently in medical research and health care delivery. However, the concept is only a few decades old. Originally coined by Dr. David Sackett (and colleagues), a researcher and physician from McMaster University, EBM is the underlying principle that guides most (all?) medical research, including our own – generating, translating, and applying evidence to guide clinical practice for preventing and managing pediatric obesity.
Dr. Sackett died recently. For more information about him, his work, and his legacy, click here.
