Children with Disabilities – Tips for Staying Fit

Weight management is challenging for most families. However, when children with obesity also have a physical disability, it often presents a number of additional and unique challenges. Our friends and colleagues (Drs. Amy McPherson from Toronto; Stasia Hadjiyannakis from Ottawa) were quoted on this issue in a recent article published in Canadian Living. Congrats, Amy and Stasia!

On a related note, one of the studies included in our Team ABC3 project includes a qualitative study to better understand the barriers and opportunities in making healthy lifestyle changes for children with obesity and a disability. Will be great for our research team (and, ultimately, clinicians across the country) to gain from the experiences and preferences of families participating in this upcoming study.
